The Texas Rangers did what they need to tonight, and that was take care of the Mariners. The rest of what the Rangers needed was in the hands of the Oakland Athletics. And, behind Geo Gonzalez against Jered Weaver, the A’s did just that! Back to back AL West championships sure feels good for all of us Ranger fans that have been following the team for many years. Lets look back at some highs from this second straight AL West Championship season.
Good Surprises:
Ian Kinsler remaining healthy the whole season. Something he had not done yet in his career and something that I for one doubted he could pull off this season. Kinsler was a great lead off man and a great defender this season. Way to go Ian.
The Starting 5 – I never expected to see C.J.Wilson, Colby Lewis, Matt Harrison, Alexi Ogando and Derek Holland still being the Rangers rotation with only 5 games left in the season, and I am happy to say that I was wrong! All of them have at least 13 wins. very good surprise.
Adrian Beltre- It has been said that he will only preform in a contract year. It was said wrong. 29 Home runs and 100 RBI so far. with 5 games left. He is also been a great defensive addition to the club. Very happy with him.
Michael Young – The Rangers would not be AL West champs, in my humble opinion, without Michael Young in 2011. He has been the leader on and off the field that we all expected him to be, and more. Michael should be the team MVP and should be in the discussion for the league MVP. Michael is my hero!!
David Murphy – he has to be the MVP of September. David has been unstoppable this month. He has always been on of my favorite players anyway!
