The Injury Bug and Game 3

The Rangers took on the Red Sox for the third straight night since in Arlington. Saturday paired Tyler Mahle against Walker Buehler.

Mahle only lasted 1.2 innings, giving up 1 earned run, but he threw a lot of pitches.

“Everybody’s focused on the game. Keep your eye on the game and get the win.” Adolis Garcia said about the bullpen after the game. He had three extra-base hits Saturday.

Rangers Keep the Pressure on

The Rangers took the early lead, taking a 2-0 lead in the first innings on a rocket off the bat of Adolis Garcia. It was almost an amazing catch by Kristian Campbell, but it just leaked out of his glove for the RBI double for Garcia.

“Adolis is a guy that we depend on, he’s come through so many times, just a well played game by [Garcia].” Bochy said after the game.

Josh Smith left after the top of the first with a left quad contusion. He was in for Josh Jung who is feeling a sore neck.

Ezequiel Duran came in and played the remainder of the game, and played well.

The Sox answered in the top of the 2nd making the game 2-1 Texas. Boston tied it in the top of the 4th only to have Garcia hit a bomb in the bottom of the inning to reclaim the lead.

“I thought Mahle had good stuff…He was just a little off.” Bochy said.

The Rangers put up another run in the 5th to give them the 4-2 lead, and Boston inched closer again in the 8th to make it 4-3.

Rafael Devers struck out another 3 times tonight bringing his total in the three games to 10 k’s. Not a lot of players accomplish that, and it leaves one to wonder if he is not enjoying being the designated hitter.

In the end the Rangers pulled it out and won their second straight game, getting them about .500 for the first time in 2025.

Chris Martin had a 1-2-3 9th inning including 2 k’s that sealed if for Texas.

“Its such a gutty effort by everybody. Obviously the pitching staff” Bochy told the media. “What a great job those guys did…..they stepped up when we needed them…”

They look for the series win tomorrow with Jacob deGrom on the mound for Texas and Richard Fitts going for the Bostons.
