The Texas Rangers began the season 8-2 before heading to Chicago to take on the Cubs. The first two games did not go as planned.
The team struggled to score in game 1, then struggled to prevent the Cubs from scoring in game 2.
Wednesday Corey Seager and the offense decided to come alive to the tune of a 6-2 victory that halted the Rangers 2 game skid.
“He’s one of the best hitters in the game,” Bruce Bochy said about shortstop Corey Seager. “He’s such a big part of our offense. The key is to get guys on for him, obviously. But even with that, he just sends a sense of confidence throughout the club when he’s doing his thing.”
Tyler Mahle went 7 innings strong and held the Cubs in check while Seager and Jonah Heim helped the offense secure the victory.
“I think I’m just living more over the plate and not trying to strike everyone out,” Mahle said after the game. “It’s just about trusting that my stuff is good enough to live over the plate.”
The Rangers improve their record to 9-4 on the season as they head to Seattle to take on the Mariners.
The offense beginning to heat up is nothing but a good thing for the Rangers. Wyatt Langford went on the injured list today, but the team didn’t let that stop them from putting up 6 runs.
The Mariners are having trouble plating runs, so if the Rangers can continue pitching like they have been and hit the ball well, they can take the series in the pacific northwest.
Jacob deGrom will go for Texas on Friday as tomorrow is an off day for the team.
