Rangers in 5

As I sit here waiting for the game tonight, I was trying to come up with a really elaborate post that would awe and inspire all of you and make you think that I was some type of genius. After reading everything I could get my hands on today Rangers related and World Series related, I decided to be the fan instead of the writer and just put down a few of my thoughts going into tonights game.

The Rangers went to the World Series last season, but I was not as excited as I am this season about it. Beating the Yankees, and especially watching A-Rod strike out for the Yankees last out of the season was so good and so amazing and meant so much to so many Rangers fans that it was very difficult to get hyped up again for another series. I know that seems weird, but I also know that other Rangers fans felt the same way. The Rangers did not even seemed to be that focused after the Yankees series. This year, they look like a team on a mission, and I am impressed with that look. I think the Rangers bats and pen are going to be too much for the Cards to handle, and I think the Rangers win this series in 5.

Michael Young is one of my favorite players and one of, if not the best hitter in Rangers history, especially in the clutch. He did not have a really good series in the ALCS, and I do not think that he will have two bad series’ in a row. I look for MY to be big in the World Series, and I think the MVP of the series comes down to either him or Adrian Beltre. Both of those guys are way too good to be in a slump for very long.

Taking Yoshi and Koji off the World Series roster was probably a tough move for Ron, who loves to support his players, even when they are struggling, but I think Ron made the right decision. Matt Treanor is needed because we are in a National League park for at least 2 games, and he may need the third catcher. If Mark Lowe is healthy again, he will be lights out and make a great pen even better. I am very happy with those moves.

Cruz moving to 6th in the lineup was also a good move in my opinion. It is hard to pitch around Cruz when you know you have Napoli and Murphy behind him. If nothing else, it means that Beltre and Napoli will see better pitches to hit. Good move by the Rangers.

Colby has proved that he is back to his post season self again this year, so it was a good choice to make him the no. 2 starter for the World Series. Remember, he is the only Rangers pitcher (before tonight, of course) to have ever won a World Series Game. Also, moving Matt Harrison to the no. 3 spot was good. Derek has been very shakey this post season, but I still say leave him in the lineup.

I hope this was a little bit of fun reading for you guys going into tonights game and be sure to listen to our podcast on the podcasts page if you have not yet. GO RANGERS!!!!
