Mike Maddox has turned down the Chicago Cubs managerial job due to family concerns, according to reports. Maddox has received interest from both the Cubs and Red Sox among others, but has decided to stay with the Rangers club for now. “Right now, as of June, my family resides together. That has not happened in three years,” Maddux said. “That’s pretty special. There does come a time when you’ve got to stop and smell the roses.” Maddox says that his family is together for the first time in two years. His wife and youngest daughter were in Milwaukee the past two years, and have just moved to Texas. I applaud Maddox for wanting to be with them, and I have to say I am not that upset that it appears he is deciding to stay with the Rangers. The pitching staff ERA has gone down every season that Maddox has been here, and ,as we all know, the Rangers have won back to back American League Championships. We will see where this story progresses to, but for now, Mike Maddox is a Ranger still.

Character…It’s the real reason the Rangers are as good as they are. About time that $$ and fame are not controlling a decision in pro sports . Roll Rangers!!!!
