“Obviously this is a very exciting night for our organization, for our fans and for our community,” general manager Jon Daniels said. What is Daniels talking about? Well, by now, you probably know that the Rangers won the bidding and therefore have the exclusive rights to try and sign on Yu Darvish, considered by some to be the best Japanese pitcher to ever attempt to make the switch to the major leagues. The Rangers have until January 18 to sign Darvish before he goes back to Japan to play. According to the organization, the Rangers are very committed to signing Darvish. “This is just the first step in the process, but an important one,” Daniels said. “It’s one that we hope will lead to signing Yu Darvish to a contract, but we understand the negotiations are just beginning. Our ownership group went the extra mile to support us on this.” I am surprised and excited about this possible acquisition for the Texas Rangers, and I believe that if they are able to sign him, he will make a significant impact on the rotation. We will talk later about who will be left out of the Rangers rotation if Darvish signs with Texas. Enjoy they day. Texas won something again!
