The Texas Rangers came off of a high Sunday night after demolishing Jared Weaver on national TV. Then the Royals came to town. Ron Washington decided that it was a good time to rest a good portion of the starters, and in game one that presented a problem, as the Royals defeated the Rangers 3-1, the 1 run being provided by Nelly Cruz who is starting to get hot. Then, Tuesday night rolled around, and the Rangers decided to rest the one guy that scored a run on Monday night. They were beat badly by the Royals, and it was the Royals first 2 game sweep of the Rangers since sometime in the 1970’s. I know that it is only May, but after the divisional high the Rangers were on, they have to be feeling some effect of the first sweep of the season coming at the hands of the lowly Royals. I know that every team is a major league team capable of winning on any night, but if the Rangers would have played all of their players, they would have at least split the series. I am a little frustrated with Washington for the first time this season. I do not think it is ever a good idea to give more than one starter at a time a night off, as I think it takes people out of rhythm. I will be interested to see how they handle it tonight against yet another division rival, and see how Darvish does after his big outing Friday. I hope that they have another bounce back game lead by Darvish.
