It is time for us here at the Ranger Report to look back at the first third of the Rangers baseball season, and I am glad that it is. It should help to get the taste of the game the Rangers played Wednesday night out of all of our mouths. After 51 games, the Texas Rangers lead the American League in wins with 31, and they lead the American League West by a margin of 5.5 games. Second place with 26 wins is the Angels, and we all knew that was coming eventually. Wins is not the only thing that the Rangers are leading the American League in after 2 months. Here are a few more things the Rangers are leading in:
1. Runs per game – 5.71 (second place Boston at 5.30)
2. Runs scored – 291 (second place Boston at 265)
3. Hits – 526 (second place Boston at 484)
4. Home runs – tied with the Yankees at 76
5. RBI – 283 (second place Boston at 255)
6. Batting Average – .288 (second place, you guessed it, Boston at .274)
7. On base percentage – .346 (second place NY at .336)
8. Slugging percentage – .476 (second place Boston at .461)
9. Total Bases – 870 (second place Boston at 814)
Pitching
10. Wins – 31
11. Starters wins – 24
12. Win/Loss percentage – .608
So let not your heart be troubled Rangers fans. The Rangers lead in 12 catigories in the AL. As we move into the second third of the season, let us all remembe that the Rangers are still the best team in the AL, and probably the best team in baseball, and the front office is willing to do whatever it has to to be better as the season goes on. I am excited to see how the next two months go, nad I am excited to see how the next three games go in LA against the Angels. Lets rest tonight, and get ready to cheer our Rangers on tomorrow as they face off against the Angels!!
