The Rangers are trying to hold off the Athletics, and to a lesser extent the Angels. The Rays are trying to catch the Orioles and the Yankees, who are playing each other right now. The Athletics are trying to hold on to this dream run and catch the Rangers or at least win a Wild Card spot. Oakland is playing Seattle this weekend, and have to face King Felix in the opener tonight. I bet the M’s would like nothing more than to derail a AL West opponent like the A’s and move them further out of reach of the Rangers, and so I do not think the A’s are going to have an easy go of it this weekend. The Orioles and Yankees are duking it out right now and the O’s played an unbelievable game last night hitting 6 home runs off of Yankee pitching. The Angels have Detroit, who are in a battle with the White Sox for first place in the Central, so they are not going to lay down for the Angels. And of course the Rangers and Rays square off this weekend at the Trop, and the season series is tied at 3-3 going into this weekend. Out of all the teams playing each other I just mentioned, every one of them are in post season contention. I did not like the idea of two wild cards at first, but I am starting to warm up to it. It is September 7th and I am excited about a weekend of great baseball that involves every team in the AL West as well as a fight for the Central and the East. I think we have a month of fun baseball to look forward to coming up!
But back to the team I love. The Rangers got a good win last night to make the lead over the A’s 5.5, and Derek Holland gets the nod tonight to take the hill and try and shut down the Rays. The Rays are playing pretty good ball right now, and are not going to be easy. The Rangers have their hands full this weekend, so pop you some popcorn and enjoy you some Rangers baseball this weekend. See you on Twitter!
