I must admit to you all that after a week in the hospital I am sick of being here. Back Surgery and recovery is hard and painful, but not as painful as yesterday’s Rangers game could have been (cue sympathetic laughter for bad joke)! When the Angels took the lead 2-1 I was demoralized, especially seeing how good the Dutch Oven was pitching. The offense was hitting, but just not scoring and Hamilton did not have his best (or worst) game at the ballpark in Arlington. But when Beltre tied it and Kinsler put them ahead for good, it again made me forget about my troubles for at least a little while and enjoy sending the Angels to the bottom of the division for now. I really enjoy sharing these moments with all of you on twitter and Facebook that have been kind enough to listen to me rant and rave for years now here on this site. I even have to personally thank @nwboyd on twitter for making sure I did not miss the game yesterday.
But here is what I learned yesterday:
1. Both these teams are good and the Angels are not going to finish last. Their offense is very, very good and Hamilton will go off for them in a similar fashion that he did for the Rangers.
2. Derek Holland showed me something yesterday that I really wanted to see from him. He can shake off the untimely home-run and still pitch a great game. He gave the Rangers a great shoot to win and they came through for him, and for that I tip my hat to mr. Holland.
3. Rangers fans know how to boo a guy. I saw this theme on twitter yesterday during the broadcast and it made me laugh to see the section reading newspapers while Hamilton was batting. Classic showing and something that I will probably never forget, depending on the medicine they have me on that is.
4. This is going to be a fun season. After watching the first five in what will be a very long baseball season, the Rangers look primed and ready to compete with the rest of the AL and try to win back the title of the best they have to offer come October. I know there is a long way to go until then, I am just saying that my confidence level is up. I hope you are all with me.
We all know that Matt Harrison will step it up today and pitch a great game and we all know Tomorrow nights start will be incredible as well, and I can’t wait to sit here in my hospital bed and watch some baseball with all of you again today and tomorrow. Thanks again for reading and Go Rangers!
