Okay, so we learned yesterday that Albert Pujols can still hit the the ball a long way, and several times in a game at that. We also learned that Matt Harrison is taking a little longer to settle into that number one spot than some of us expected. I thought Matt would be great from the beginning, but he was not. I am still, however, not overly concerned about Harrison. He did well after he stopped throwing that fast ball up to the Angels hitters. We are also seeing that A.J. Looks so far to be quite a good pickup for the Rangers. He is playing both great defense and great offense right now. It is hard to remember that we are now only five games into the season. Nelly looks good at the plate, Beltre looks like Beltre, and to reiterate what I said yesterday, both the Angels and Rangers are good teams.
I have really been looking forward to tonight’s game though. Jared Weaver versus Yu Darvish will be a matchup I think we will see a whole lot over the next few years. Either the rangers will tag Weaver for a lot of runs (which they occasionally do in Arlington) or this will be another in a long line of very close played games between these two clubs. I expect Yu to be sharp coming off of his best perfect game against the Astros, and I expect the defense to back him up again. I think this will be the year we see special things from Yu Darvish.
All in all, I have learned over the last seven plus days this opening week of the MLB season is not the worst time of the year to be stuck in a hospital bed, because you have no excuse not to catch your favorite team every night. Of course, I would have rather been healthy and gone to yesterday’s game with Nate and the rest of The Hague Sports crew yesterday, but at least they didn’t rub it in too bad that I couldn’t make it. Everyone enjoy your Sunday and get ready for tonight’s Rangers and Angels showdown in what ever way you like to prepare. Me, I’ll be right here in this hospital bed waiting for Seven to roll around.
