The Rangers pitching has been good and the offense has been so-so. So it comes as no surprise that every once in a while the Ranger pitching is going to have an off day. I didn’t think Holland was terrible yesterday, but he wasn’t at his best either. And Michael Kirkman, who has been shaky all season, had a bad day. Those are going to come over the course of a 162 game season. The point of it all is to win the series whenever you have the chance.
The Rangers have yet to lose a series, although they have tied two. If they win today, then we won’t even remember the loss yesterday because the Rangers would have done just that, won a series. I am a little concerned about this offense and its struggles with runners in scoring position. They seem to be hitting really well when no one is on base, but something seems to happen when they get runners on ahead of them. I was hoping that they had snapped out of that by now, but they do still seem to be struggling. And most of their home runs seem to be solo, unless your name is Nelson Cruz.
Overall, I still not worried about this team, seeing that they are 16-8 and are still in first place in the West. But I would like to see the team batting average go up with runners in scoring position. If they win today though, my worry will be just a little less.
