The Red Sox came into town with the best record in the AL, and the best record in all of baseball. They no longer hold that, thanks to getting swept by the Texas Rangers. They now have to share that with the St. Louis Cardinals and the Texas Rangers. The Rangers did it the hard way today, winning the game in walk off fashion, their first walk off of 2013. Elvis got on with two outs in the ninth with a bloop single, after a wild pitch that Elvis advanced to second on, the Red Sox decided walk Berkman and pitch to Adrian Beltre. The count was two and two on Beltre when he waited on a curve ball and just got it over the second baseman Dustin Pedroia, which was plenty far enough for Elvis to score from second.
This team is starting to look a lot better on the offensive side of the ball, and the pitching is still going strong. Besides that, Colby Lewis will start his rehab assignment soon and Perez will as well, which means the pitching should only get stronger. Beltre looks to be coming around at the plate, as well as a lot of other guys. This was a huge sweep for the Rangers.
The Rangers head to Chicago to finish the series with the Cubs next, and they will face former Rangers pitcher Scott “Scooter” Feldman. Look for my preview article on that game tomorrow morning here. After that the Rangers head to Milwakee and then Houston for a road trip that they should be able to win. I look forward to seeing what happens over the next few days, and I hope you are as well. The Rangers are getting close to hitting all cylinders, and I can’t wait to see what it looks like when they finally are hitting on all cylinders. Just think, they have the best record in all of baseball right now and the offense still doesn’t look quite right. It is going to be fun to see what happens when they are.
