You know near the end of the night when you go on a drinking binge, you always come up with an idea that is probably not the best one. Well, the Rangers did that last night but it worked out. Who would have thought on a night where the Boston Red Sox put up a seventeen spot on the Rangers, that the one pitcher who would not give up a run would be David Murphy. Murphy pitched the eighth inning, the only scoreless inning of the night. In comparison, Grimm gave up eight earned runs, Kirkman one, Ortiz six (only three earned though) and Wolf two. It was funny to see Murph get a strike out though (see above).
The Rangers, and every major league team, are going to have games like last night from time to time. The only important thing how they bounce back from it. Tonight the Rangers need to return the favor against the Red Sox with Ogando on the mound. In my opinion, the Rangers are the better team, they just need to remember that tonight.
There are no moral victories from a game like last night, only real victories. And the Red Sox got the real victory last night. Look for the Rangers to bounce back in a big way tonight. I will be.
