The Rangers put up eight runs last night in their victory over the division rival Athletics, and they needed every one of them to win. Nick Tepesch was not good again, and he now has an ERA of 4.84, and it has been climbing start to start. Lucky for Tepesch, Nelson Cruz decided to jack two monster home runs last night to give the Rangers the victory.
We may not be at the end of bad playing yet, but I have some faith now that this team can snap out of it. The offense looked better, and it looked like it cared for once. The bullpen was great, again. If it wasn’t for the pen, the Rangers would be farther than 2.0 behind the A’s (only one game behind in the loss column.) The Rangers need to build on last nights win and take the West back in this series.
Tonight the Rangers have Yu Darvish going, and a very long outing would be great for the bull pen. Yu needs to keep it simple in the first few innings and not give up his regular runs. He also needs to throw strikes and keep his pitch count down. I believe that the Rangers can give him some run support, and a Yu win sounds great.
Last night was, I hope, the start of something special. We shall see tonight if that is the case or not. Enjoy the game.
