The Rangers have now won 8 of their last 10 games. During that time we have had a complete game two hit shutout of the Yankees (not at full strength, to be fair) by Derek Holland, and a couple of gems by 22 year old Martin Perez. The Rangers, after losing 6 games in a row, have taken the series from Oakland, St. Louis and the Yankees.
Tonight we got to watch the brilliance that can be the Rangers defense. Both Kinsler and Profar made great plays, Profar made several great ones. We sometimes forget just how good this defense is. The Rangers have the best left side of the infield in all of baseball, in my opinion, and Kinsler and Moerland are very good as well. I know a lot of people think the Rangers should trade Profar for pitching, but in the last ten games, only Yu Darvish has lost. He is a subject for another day though.
The Rangers are pitching, fielding and hitting as good as I have seen them do in a long time (excusing the hr Scheppers gave up to Ichiro the other day). The only problem is that the A’s are not going away any time soon. Those guys just keep winning! They are a good team, and I prefer them over the lowly Angels.
The point is, during the 6 game losing streak, we were (at least most of us) losing hope about a team that looked so good early on. What I have learned from that is not to panic. Baseball is a long and hard thing to watch sometimes. Players and fans alike have to roll with the punches. Some days will be good, and some will be bad.
Martin is starting to look like the center fielder of the future, Murphy is starting to hit his stride, Elvis is looking better at the plate. This team is winning again. Lets all be happy and remember, when things get bad, it is only a matter of time until this team turns it around again.
