Yu Darvish seemed to have everything under control last night until he hit a little bump in the road in the seventh inning. In fact, Darvish was no hitting the Twins through six. Then came the seventh. Darvish issued a walk, a two run home run and a solo shot to give the Twins a 3-2 lead. The Rangers never recovered.
I sarcastically tweeted something about the home run Darvish likes to give up, but after the game you could see how frustrated he was. I know Darvish doesn’t like to give up home runs. Last might was particularly frustrating to fans and players alike. A no hitter through six should never turn into a loss three batters into the seventh.
All in all, it’s just one game. If the Rangers can take care of business behind Matt Garza today, they will finish the month of August with a 20-7 record, and at minimum a 2 game lead over the Athletics. It is going to be a very interesting/stressful September.
