The Rangers are coming off an ugly series against the Pirates, a series in which they never held a lead for three games. They are also coming off a very bad start to September, which kind of reminds me of last season, except for one thing: The Rangers led the West for almost the whole season in 2012 until the last day and their pitching was not near as good.
This team is most definitely in a funk right now, but as we saw at the start of August, they are also capable of getting out of that funk as quickly as they have gotten into it. The Rangers are down, but if we have learned anything from the team that leads the American League in come from behind wins, it is that they are never out. They have sixteen games left to prove to the world if they are capable of catching the Athletics, and the next three are the most important in that hunt. If the Rangers lose two out of three or get swept by the Athletics, they are not even making the wild card in my opinion. But if they fight a claw like they have done all season against the A’s, then they have a chance. I feel like they have a chance.
I think that Derek is ready for tonight, I think Yu needs to silence his critics who say he can’t beat the A’s, especially since I will be at tomorrow afternoon’s game. The Rangers need to win every series from here on out to win the West in my opinion, and they need to do almost the same to hold on to one of the Wild Card spots.
It should be an interesting next few weeks Rangers fans, lets hope it ends well.
