Despite a horrible start to September and bats that couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn for two weeks, the Texas Rangers have found ways to stick around and stay in the playoff hunt.
Last nights 8-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays gave the Rangers the season series over the Rays, meaning that if the Rays and Rangers end with the same record and both make the Wild Card, the Rangers would host. Yu Darvish did not look himself last night, but the Rangers offense and bats (yes, I said bats) got the job done. They hit 4 home runs last night.
The Rangers move on to Kansas City tonight to take on a Royals ream that is also in the Wild Card hunt, so it should be a hard fought series. The Royals have had their best season in a very long time, and the Rangers appear to be snapping out of their early September slump.
A week ago I was positive that the Rangers were completely out of the post season picture. What a difference a week makes. The Rangers are finally hitting again, and not a moment too soon. Ten games to go, should be a stressful ten days for Texas Rangers fans. For the Rangers, the post season has begun. I hope they play like it.
