The Texas Rangers had a decent season in 2013, all things considered. They never had their starting five pitchers on the field at the same time, they lost Josh Hamilton, Mike Napoli, Michael Young, Koji Uehara, Mike Adams and others that helped them so much in seasons past. Nelson Cruz, who was leading the team in home runs and RBI, took a fifty game suspension that really hurt the Rangers. They had a fight between Nolan Ryan and Jon Daniels that finally ended in Nolan Ryan retiring in October of this year. It was a crazy year to be a Rangers fan.
Even with all of their struggles, they still made it to a play in game number 163 at the end of the season against the Tampa Bay Rays, which they lost to David Price, and pitcher that they are very interested in bringing to Arlington. They had a decent season, but not a great season. I would say that I enjoyed the 2013 season more than I enjoyed the 2012 season, just because of the epic meltdown that Josh Hamilton and the Rangers had at the end of that season and then the terrible off season they went through leading up to the 2013 season. Yes, 2013 brought us the end of Ian Kinsler as a Ranger, but that began the era of Jurickson Profar as the everyday second baseman. It also brought us the end of Nelson Cruz as a Ranger, but they went and got Shin-Shoo Choo and Prince Fielder. 2013 brought us some good memories, like sweeping the Cardinals in St. Louis, dominating the Angels, and watching Yu Darvish pitch every fifth day.
Now that 2013 is over, I always like to look back at the good memories I had of my favorite baseball team. I really hope 2014 brings me even better memories.
