2013 – A Personal Year In Review

2013 was a very interesting year for me personally. I began the year like normal, going to work, going home and writing about the Rangers. But on Good Friday, my year took a turn. I was working on the fence outside of my house and I felt a twinge in my back. I stopped working, went inside and got cleaned up. When I did, I felt a horrible feeling in my back. What I found out three days later I was feeling was a ruptured disc in my back as many of you know, since I documented my recovery right here on this site.

The surgery coincided with baseball season starting, so at least for the seven weeks I was out of work recovering I had that to watch and write about. And I continued doing the Hague Sports Podcast. Life was rough and I am still not back to 100%, but I did learn some life lessons out of the whole deal. I also began writing for the FanSided Networks Texas Rangers site called Nolan Writin. The baseball season was moving along nicely, I now had two sites to write about the Rangers, and I thought things were going good. I really enjoyed writing and talking about the Rangers, and I even was able to appear on our local ESPN radio station a couple of times. In October I became co-editor of the FanSided site.

Then, after several surgeries on his legs, my father wound up in the hospital with an infection and on November 24 he passed away. My father and I were really close, and I took an extended leave from writing on both sites during this process. Dad is one of the reasons I am such a huge sports fan, and I will always be grateful for that. The holidays were difficult as you can imagine, but we are pressing on. I got back to writing and have been trying to get this site and Nolan Writin really going, and the Rangers have been helping by signing names like Prince Fielder and Shin-Soo Choo to big contracts.

I love writing about the Rangers and I hope that you guys enjoy reading about it, thank you all for the support you have shown this site and me over the past 3 plus years, and I hope that we can one day experience a Texas Rangers World Series Championship together. God Bless.
