The Texas Rangers had no trouble scoring runs in the first game of the season, but they had a whole lot of trouble stopping the other team from scoring runs. Today, Martin Perez gets the nod to try to stop the pitching nightmare that was game one of the season. The Texas Rangers have called up Daniel McCutchen to try to help solidify the pen, and Daniel Murphy is getting the start in place of Josh Wilson today at second.
The Texas Rangers are not that concerned, and you as a Texas Rangers fan should not be ready to hit the panic button yet either. Lets remember, the Rangers scored eight runs off of Cliff Lee, ten runs overall. If they could have pitched at all in yesterday’s game, they would have won easily. They can pitch, we all know that, and they will pitch. I for one am not ready to call this season a loss just because the Texas Rangers got blown out on day on of 162.
Tonight I expect that they will take it to A.J Burnett, and that Perez will have a much better outing then the nervous Tanner Scheppers did last night. I also expect the bull pen to be much better. I am looking forward to watching game 2, and I hope that you are as well!
