When the Texas Rangers have days off, I like to evaluate how the last series they just played went. Maybe it is because I like to over analyze everything, or maybe it’s because I’m crazy, but it’s what I like to do! The Rangers had some good moments, some bad moments and a few ugly moments. Let’s look at them, shall we?
The Good
Adrian Beltre is still a beast. He seems to be able to get a hit at the time the Rangers need one at least 50% of the time, maybe more. On Tuesday night, Adrian tied and won the game with just such hits, and last night he got on base to start the ninth inning in a game the Rangers would wind up winning in that inning.
Shin-Soo Choo was also involved in both games the Texas Rangers won in a big way, and so far, after just three games, Choo is looking like a great pick up.
Robbie Ross and Martin Perez both had quality starts for the Rangers, and both kept the Rangers in the game by pitching very well. It is good to know that two out of out three starters so far have pitched very well.
The Rangers offense is averaging 5 runs per game at the moment, and even though that won’t continue, it’s a good start for this offense.
Yu Darvish will be back Sunday! This news was very good!
The Bad
Tanner Scheppers first ever major league start sis not go as planned, in fact I would say it went very badly. Scheppers gave up 7 runs and took the loss. The odds are he will get better.
Pedro Figueroa had a rough outing in game one of the series, and so did Alexi Ogando, who I am not sure what is going on with. He has not pitched well at all in 2014.
The Leonys Martin Error last night could have been huge if the Rangers had not come back and won that game. It was bad wither way.
Texas Rangers fans trashing the fan statue, just bad all the way around. People who do things like that don’t deserve tickets to a ball game, and should have their fandom revoked.
The Ugly
Game one was ugly all the way around for both teams. They both came out of the gate with no pitching and no defense. It was an ugly game.
The Dot Race advertising fiasco. Loads of fans got mad about that and from what I heard it was shamless. Don’t mess with the dots!
Emily Jones comparing Russell Wilson to Justin Beiber. Okay, this one was more funny than ugly, but it was a few minutes of really funny television. Made me miss Josh Lewin a little bit.
The Texas Rangers take on the Rays in Tampa starting tomorrow, so I hope you enjoyed this and enjoy the day off from Rangers baseball!
