Omar Beltre has spinal stenosis. What is that you may ask? It is the abnormal narrowing of the spine. Ouch, as a person with some back issues, that does not sound good. We keep on being told that Omar Beltre is ready to be a major league pitcher, but he keeps having setbacks. We even included him in our starting hopefuls piece a few days ago. Beltre is the first case of this in baseball that can be found, so the Rangers have no idea how long this will keep him out. This is not really a huge setback for the Rangers, seeing that Beltre was not slated as a starter or anything, but it is a big setback for Omar. Hopefully, he will recover in the 6-8 weeks that the Rangers hope he will, but I for one am not going to hold my breath. More news as it happens. Stay tuned to the Ranger Report.
