After what has felt like the longest four days of the summer, Texas Rangers baseball is back and I have never been more ready. We have discussed in horrific detail how badly the Texas Rangers season has gone so far, but it still doesn’t mean that I don’t want to be watching Rangers baseball! I watched the All-Star game, I did not watch the home-run derby. But the All-Star game is not Texas Rangers baseball.
Like baseball players, we all get into a routine and it is tough to break that routine. I found myself sitting on the couch flipping channels hoping to find something worth watching, and most of the time I failed. I missed Rangers baseball. Tonight, the Texas Rangers take on the Toronto Blue Jays and I couldn’t be more excited. It is a chance for a fresh start. The Rangers can feel like it is the beginning of the season again and they have a clean plate, and then play like they’re playing for something other than Texas pride!
Don’t underestimate Texas pride, it can help this team have a much better second half. The young players have all played together for over half a season now, the vets are in the zone so to speak, Yu Darvish is going to be Yu Darvish, which means he can compete for the Cy Young award, and he will. The defense will be better, I think Elvis Andrus and Rougned Odor are starting to get comfortable with each other, so the double play combo should look good as well.
I am excited about the second half of the baseball season, and I hope you are too. Lets Go Rangers!
