The news came down yesterday that Yu Darvish was going on the DL, and I reacted like most Rangers fans probably reacted: I cried. Everytime we all think “what else can go wrong this season”, something else does. The Texas Rangers are now the team headed for the most injuries and the most pitchers used (thanks to J.P. Arencibia pitching last night) in a single season.
So elbow is always the scariest of injuries. We all know what “elbow inflammation” could mean. We are just going to ignore the possibility for now, because I do not want to think about it. I know that this season is very lost, but next season was at least something that Rangers fans could look forward to and start preparing for. If the elbow surgery that I am not going to name happens to Yu Darvish, then next season is most likely lost as well.
Yu Darvish is the Rangers ace, he is a great pitcher, he was having a great season, but just as Rangers baseball goes this year, so does Yu Darvish apparently. The world may not be ending, but this morning it sure feels like it is closer. I don’t think I will be able to breathe until I hear that Yu Darvish does not need that surgery that I am worried about. I sure hope he doesn’t.
