Well, the Texas Rangers now get to face the Nelson Cruz 19 times a year as he has signed with the Seattle Mariners. This is bad news for the Texas Rangers, who he hit pretty well last season with the Orioles against the Texas Rangers. The Rangers, needing some power in the outfield, would have done well to at least inquire on him, but then again I am not sure they did not and I don’t think some Texas Rangers fans wanted to see him return.
Cruz is now signed for the next four seasons, and the Rangers are going to need to get some pitching to shut him and Robinson Cano down. The Rangers are going to be hard pressed to get better than the Angels and now the Mariners, who both are looking good so far in this off season. The Rangers need pitching and they need hitting, but I think pitching is more important since I believe that guys like Robinson Chirinos, Rougned Odor and Jake Smolinski will hit better and I also believe that Elvis Andrus and Leonys Martin will be better as well.
The Rangers still have a lot of off season ahead of them, and I hope that they make some moves at some point to sure up a team that just was not very good in 2014. Here’s to 2015 being better and here is to Nelson Cruz having a bad year in Seattle. One can dream, right?
