Today at Globe Life Park the Texas Rangers re-introduced new outfielder Josh Hamilton. As we all know, Josh was a big part of the 2010 and 2011 World Series teams in Arlington, and he left after 2012 to join the Angels. Today during the press conference, Hamilton had some things to say about his departure and his return.
“If I could change the past, I would not have left,” Hamilton said today. “But you can only learn from it and I’ve learned a lot the last couple of years.”
I have mixed feelings and mixed expectations about Josh Hamilton’s return. I feel like this is really good for Josh Hamilton the person, but I am not sure how healthy and mentally strong Josh Hamilton the baseball player is at this point of his career. I will be happy to see him in a Rangers uniform again, but I don’t know how the fans at Globe Life Park will react when he steps in the box for his first at bat. I think that the fans will eventually be glad to have him back and accept him, but we will have to wait and see. Here are a few more quotes from the presser.
“I loved my teammates in LA, it was awesome there. But it was LA, not Texas.”
“Yes, I need baseball. I love baseball. … But baseball is coming to an end soon. … I want to be OK after baseball is over.”
So how do you feel about the return of Josh Hamilton to Arlington? Are you happy? Excited? Nervous? Let me know in the comments here, on facebook or twitter. Hopefully the Ranger will win their second game in a row tonight!
