Owners of the worst record in the American League last year due to a record-number of injuries, the Texas Rangers were mostly an unknown entering 2015, especially not having ace Yu Darvish in their rotation. With the MLB season passing the 50-game mark, and the Rangers suddenly soaring above the .500 mark, it’s becoming clear that maybe Texas is back to being a legitimate contender again in the AL West. After all, they trail the upstart Houston Astros by 5.5 games for the division lead.
Their success for the most part has surprisingly come away from home. The Rangers are 17-11 in games played away from Globe Life Park this season, compared to being 9-14 at home. Josh Hamilton has been an integral part of their fortunes since returning to Texas after being dealt from the Angels, knocking in a couple of game-winning hits during his first week with the team. Prince Fielder is performing as well as the club imagined when they traded for him, hitting .359 with 10 home runs and 38 RBI.
They’re an entertaining bunch, to say the least. Below, with information gathered by SeatSmart.com, we’ll take a look at the Rangers’ most and least expensive average ticket prices on the secondary market for the month of June.
Most Expensive: 6/5/2015 | Kansas City Royals vs. Texas Rangers | Kauffman Stadium | Average Price: $84.89 | Get-in Price: $25 | Ladies Infinity Scarf Giveaway
The Royals’ home success is similar to the Rangers’ road success so far in 2015. The Royals are 17-7 at Kauffman Stadium, where the Rangers will try to grab some victories during their series against last year’s American League champions. The Royals are ten games over .500 (as of 6/2) and will certainly serve as an intriguing measuring stick for one of baseball’s hottest teams over the past few weeks. If Texas can prevail in this series at The K, it will go further in proving just how legit they really are.
6/28/2015 | Toronto Blue Jays vs. Texas Rangers | Rogers Centre | Average Price: $83.33 | Get-in Price: $8 | Panel Hate Giveaway
Even though fans around baseball are well aware of the Blue Jays’ mighty powerful lineup with Edwin Encarnacion, Jose Bautista and Jose Reyes, it hasn’t translated much in the wins column up to this point. Toronto finds itself six games below .500 in a mediocre American League East division, which is led by the New York Yankees at only two games above .500. Even so, Toronto Blue Jays tickets have been a constant draw, whether they be at home or on the road, due to how their offense regularly lights up the scoreboard, leading the AL in runs scored. Toronto has played well at home, but as mentioned earlier, the Rangers have performed their best on the road.
Least Expensive: 6/9-10/2015 | Oakland Athletics vs. Texas Rangers | O.co Coliseum | Average Price: $36
The two least expensive games for the Rangers this month are against the AL West rival Oakland Athletics in consecutive days. Oakland had huge roster turnover this past offseason, and through the first couple of months, it just hasn’t been working out, although injuries have played a role in that, too. The A’s are 13 games under .500 and sit in the cellar of the AL West. With a 9-17 home record at the O.co Coliseum, the Rangers have a fine opportunity to improve on their strong road record.
