It’s Official: No More Chuck Greenburg

What an odd thing to happen 3 weeks before the Rangers officially kick off the 2011 season, the Rangers owner and managing partner is out. Apparently, he an Nolan did not agree on a lot of things, and apparently according to sources the rest of the owners did not like the way that Chuck was running things. He also reportedly stopped a potential Michael Young trade to another team by demanding that Michael do something that goes against baseballs collective bargaining agreement. This just goes to show you, if you hack off Nolan Ryan, it is not going to end well for you.

So what exactly does this mean for the Rangers? I do not think that it means much at all. The rest of the ownership group stays in place and Chuck did not really have a lot to do in the day to day baseball operations on the field, so I do not think this is going to be more than a little blip on the players radar by the time the season starts April 1st. Nolan is really the guy that the team looks up to and are excited that he owns the team. It is a weird way to start the day, the news of that and the earthquake that happened in Japan, which , in the grand scheme of things is a much bigger story. Be sure to pray for the families of the Japanese people and give to the recovery effort if you can. Remember, life is about a lot more than baseball, even if we sometimes forget it. Thanks for reading.

  1. It sucks from the outside, but like you said, he doesn’t have much to do with the baseball operations side. He had some great ideas and did a lot for the fan experience and will certainly be missed in that aspect, but in the grand scheme of things I don’t think this will be much of an issue.
