Nick Tepesch has several opportunities to start for the Texas Rangers, and none of them worked out well. According to sources, Tepesch is no longer with the club. Several places are reporting that he asked for and received his release from the team today.
Nick Tepesch has asked for his unconditional release and got it.

Tepesch has had struggles galore since the Rangers brought him up in 2012, he has a career ERA of 4.56, and a record of 9-17. I believe that both Tepesch and the Texas Rangers probably saw that it was time to cut ties and let Nick start fresh somewhere else. Tepesch had some innings where he looked promising, but he never could seem to get it together consistently at all. I am not sure who will pick him up, but whoever does will not be calling him up anytime soon if he continues to pitch like he as so far in the minors in 2016. He had just 31 strikeouts in over 65 innings, not really good numbers for AAA ball.
I hope he finds a place that he likes, and I hope that it can work out for him somewhere. It sure wasn’t going to in Texas.
