There has been some chatter about Joey Gallo on the internet lately, it seems he is sitting for the second day in a row. People are wondering why he is sitting. According to SportsDayDFW, Joey is suffering from a sore heel.
But it does raise the question, what should the Rangers do with Joey Gallo? Gallo is a power hitting third baseman, which means he strikes out a lot but there is no doubt he is extreemly talented. Third base is covered for at least a few more seasons, so the Rangers tried him out in left field. The outfield is also a little crowded at the moment, so there has been talk of him playing first.
First is now kind of crowded with Mitch Moreland, Prince Fielder and now Jurickson Profar playing really good defense at first. So what should the Texas Rangers do?
I am not convinced that the Rangersshould trade him, but I would definitly listen to offers from other teams on him. I would love to have a place for him on the big club, but there just isn’t a spot now that Beltre is here for another few years.
The Rangers should get some good return if they do trade him, and they can afford to be patient with him. There are already rumors and speculation about teams that may want to trade for him, teams such as the Yankees among others, and some national writers have suggested trades.
I really like Joey Gallo, I would like to see a place for him, but I just do not at this moment. I think Profar has made himself almost untradeable with the way he has been playing, so I am not sure where Gallo could break in. Am I wrong? Let me know what you think. Thanks.
