The Texas Rangers squared off against the Colorado Rockies tonight at Coors Field. They looked pedestrian for 8 innings of the game, then decided the ninth was just the right time to begin playing baseball.
After Rougned Odor and Jurickson Profar got on base, Elvis Andrus knocked them in to tie the contest at 3. Mitch Moreland decided he wanted to break the tie and went ahead and knocked in Elvis for the game winning run.
In June, the Rangers seemed to comeback almost every night. It made for some stressful but exciting baseball. Now that the calendar has turned from July to August, it is nice to see the Rangers bring back the comeback.
Even though Cole Hamels did not factor into the decision, he had another quality start and kept the Rangers close enough to comeback. The pen, although it gave up one run, got the job done again.
The team now chasing the Rangers for first place is Seattle, not Houston. They are playing some good ball at the moment. The Rangers can’t afford to have an extended losing streak right now, so it is good to see them comeback and win one on the road like they did.
One more in Colorado before heading back to Arlington to face these same Rockies Wedneaday and Thursday. A sweep would be great, but I’ll take two out of three.
