The Texas Rangers are on the West coast over the next ten days. They have an opportunity to put the division away with a good road trip and some bad games by Houston.
Texas is now 9.5 games in the lead after losing the series finale against the Stros. With 25 games remaining, it seems like the Rangers have placed themselves in good position to win the West. They are also in position to be the number one seed in the American League.
The Rangers were without Yu Darvish, Derek Holland, Colby Lewis, Shin-Soo Choo and Prince Fielder for most of the season, and they are still in this position. Players like Nomar Mazara, Rougned Odor, Ian Desmond and Jurickson Profar have really stepped it up.
The Rangers can officially end the Mariners bid this week. They could put the Mariners 16.5 games back with 21 to go if they can get the sweep. The Astros have a tougher schedule than the Rangers as well for the remainder of the season.
The Rangers have the Mariners, Angels, Astros, Athletics, Angels, and Athletics left in their AL West schedule. All winnable series. The Rangers should reach 92 plus wins, which should be enough to go into October as the number one seed. Should be a good last few weeks of the season!
