On Saturday afternoon the Rangers put a very unfamiliar team in the field. Only Yu Darvish, Nomar Mazara and Elvis Andrus were regulars. Since Texas won the division the night before, it seemed like a good idea to rest guys.
That did not mean an automatic loss, as the so called “scrubs” proved. The Rangers powered past the Athletics 5-0, a game that included notnone, but two home runs from the Rangers starting shortstop.
“I wasn’t trying to hit home runs, except for my last at-bat,” Andrus said. “Adrian Beltre told me I should, because it would be the only chance to hit three home runs in a game”. Texasrangers.com
Although Elvis missed hitting three home runs in a game, he still had a game to remember. Yu Darvish looked in top form against the club he jas taken the most losses against.
The Rangers wrap up their series in Oakland this afternoon, and then head home for the last week of the season. The Rangers are still playing for something, as well. The Cleveland Indians are only 2.5 games back for the overall number one seed in the American League.
It is time to see what this team is made of getting ready for post season play. I can’t wait for post season play again!
