On Thursday, the Frisco Rough Riders begin their 2017 campaign. The fun thing about minor league baseball is that it is almost impossible to predict. No one ever knows who is going to get called up. No one ever knows who is going to get sent down. But minor league baseball is some of the most fun baseball to watch.
In 2017, we here at the Ranger Report are branching out into more minor league coverage. We will be in Frisco from time to time talking to players, covering games, interviewing big wigs. We plan covering Frisco as well as a unfunded blog can!
There is a lot to look forward to when it comes to the Rough Riders in 2017. Some highly touted prospects are starting their years there. Some of them you have heard of, and some of them you have not. Some names you probably have hard of are the likes of Connor Sadzeck (10-8 with a 4.16 ERA in 2016 for Frisco), Yohander Mendez (4-1 with a 3.09 ERA in 10 starts at Frisco), Juremi Profar (.300 BA with 13 home runs and 58 RBI in the High Desert league in 2016) and others.
While the ones you know are fun to watch, the ones you do not know are sometimes more fun to keep up with. I got to know former Rough Rider Brett Nicholas while he was there, and I still get the opportunity to talk to him from time to time.
2017 should be a great year to be a Frisco Rough Rider. We here at the Ranger Report can’t wait to be along for the ride. We hope you enjoy or coverage.
