We began earlier this season talking about putting together a Texas Rangers all time team, but we never followed through. I believe it is high time to follow through with that. It is always a fun debate, and fun to think about who is the greatest at each position to wear the Rangers uniform. One of our writers, Charles Parker, already did the first position on the field for us (well, actually, it is two on the fielding chart) and you can refresh your memory here.
The joy in this is getting a chance to look back in history and do some more studying of the Texas Rangers. To me, nothing is more fun than baseball. The only thing that is almost as fun is research! I will enjoy the debate in my own head about who to pick at some of the positions, and I will also enjoy writing about the shoe ins. In a season like the Rangers are having in 2018, it is never a bad idea to look back and ponder the great teams.
The plan will be to hit eight position players, an all time rotation, and an all time bull pen. We may also delve into managers as well, we will see where this journey takes us. There is no rhyme or reason behind this except for the reason that I enjoy writing about the Rangers, past, present or future.
