The Texas Rangers have signed Jesse Chavez to a two year deal for around eight million dollars. Chavez was lights out for the Rangers and Cubs in 2018, and this will be a great sign for the younger reluevers on the team. I can’t say I completely understand the signing for a team that will not be in the hunt for the next two plus seasons without siginificant additions to the team. Chavez is great, and it will be a lot of fun to watch him for the next two seasons. If nothing else, the Rangers can use him as a major trade piece later in the 2019 or 2020 season.
In more suprising news, the Rangers non-tendered four players, including Matt Bush. Bush was brilliant in 2016, but has not been the same since. He has had injury trouble and just not been effective. The Rangers say they are hopeful they can sign Bush to a minor league deal, and only time will tell if thst is going to happen or not. Bush is a fan favorite and it will be sad to see him go, and IMO i believe he will not return. Someone out there will sign him to a major league contract.
