Matt Bush was cut by the Rangers just a few short weeks back. He has now signed a minor league deal to stay in the Rangers organization.
“We talked about it weeks ago,” Bush said. “We already, basically, knew this was the direction we were going to go. I never wanted to leave. This is home for me. With the phase we’re going in right now, I definitely want to be a part of it.” (Ft. Worth Star Telegram
Matt will get an invitation to spring training to try and make the squad. I don’t think the Rangers wanted to let his talent go. When healthy, he is very good. This is a good sign for the Rangers. Fans like him. He re-started his career with Texas. He has some experience that can help the young relievers the Rangers will have. He will probably spend some time in the minors re-tuning, but I believe that he will eventually see the big league stage in 2019. Of course that will be later in the season, as he is not expected to be able to pitch until at least half way through the season.
I am glad the the Rangers retained Matt Bush. He is a very talented pitcher, and he seems to really feel comfortable in Texas. He had a rough go for a while, and we all remember the story. Matt Bush is supposed to start a throwing program again in January. the hope is that he can be ready by around the All-Star break.
