The deal is now about done. 6 years, $96 million for a 31 year old 3rd baseman with a couple of good seasons under his belt. He has been a major league 3rd baseman for 12 seasons, and he has had a decent career. He has had more good seasons than bad, its true. I have been against it, but since Michael Young is for it and it appears that the deal is eminent, I need to cut him some slack. I still do not like his attitude, but I did not really like to attitude of Milton Bradley when Texas picked him up, and that worked out alright for Texas. So, I am going to believe that this is not going to be another A-Rod Ranger fiasco, but that it will turn out good for both the Rangers and Beltre. I hope that I am wrong in thinking that he will cause personal problems, and I hope that Jon Daniels is right in doing this. He has been spot on so far in the trades he has done, so, I think that Daniels gets the benefit of the doubt. If Beltre and Webb both work out, it is going to be a hard thing to beat the Rangers this season. Again.
