Continuing the series on the greatest Ranger at each position, today we will talk about third base. This one was pretty easy for me. Adrian Beltre is the best Ranger to ever play third base. Adrian played there the longest (eight years), along with Dean Palmer. Steve Buechele is second with seven years played. Adrian may be the best third baseman in baseball history. That is still up for debate.
Adrian is a first ballot hall of fame candidate. Adrian Beltre had an amazing career for both the Rangers and total. He recorded 3166 hits, including 636 doubles and 477 home runs. He was a gold glove winner five times. He was an all star four times. He won the silver slugger award four times. He played a mean third base. I can personally remember many occasions where Adrian made me say wow out loud while watching him play his position. He had his fall away from first throw. He had his home run hits from one knee. He lead the team, and he played through multiple injuries.
I personally do not believe that Adrian Beltre being the greatest Rangers third baseman of all time is up for debate. The only thing I and many other Rangers fans wish is that Beltre could have won the World Series in a Rangers uniform. It would have been great to see him hoist the trophy as a World Champion, and it is still a bitter subject for me to talk about the 2011 World Series. We just do’t talk about it.
