Texas Rangers Acquire Luke Farrell

Friday the Rangers acquired right handed pitcher Luke Farrell from the Angels on a waiver claim. Farrell is the son of former Blue Jay and Red Sox manager John Farrell. He came to the Angels from the Cubs in a waiver claim in September of 2018. He never appeared in a game for the Halos, and they eventually waived him on December 21st of 2018.

Farrell has 44.1 major league innings under his belt. He has a career ERA of 5.28 with 48 strike outs and 26 walks. He also gave up a home run every 6.1 innings. He was also put on the Rangers forty man roster, bringing it to 37.

The 27 year old will compete for a spot in the Rangers bullpen in 2019. He can expect to be going up against pitchers that are younger and harder throwing than he is. I am not sure if he will make the team or not, but I know he will be given every opportunity to do just that. The Rangers are trying to build a competitive team for 2019. We will have to wait and see if Luke Farrell will be a part of it or not.
