According to multiple sources, the Texas Ranges have agreed to a one year, $3.5mm deal with Asdrubal Cabrera. He will primarily play third base for the Rangers. He is very versatile and can play all infield positions. Cabrera has a career batting average of .269. He hit .262 in 2018 with both the Mets and Phillies. He has always been a plus defender. The Rangers finally have their third baseman, pending a physical of course.
The Texas Rangers also acquired relief pitcher Zach McAllister for $1mm. McAllister was a starter for the Indians from 2012-14. He has pitched out of the pen since that time for the most part. He was a solid pen arm for the Indians for year, but in 2018 he got released after putting up a 4.97 ERA in 41.2 IP. The Tigers picked him up for the remainder of the season.
