Projecting the Texas Rangers Starting Lineup

We are now a few weeks into spring training. Lets look at where I think the Texas Rangers starters are shaping up to be on March 4.

Pitching:

Starters

Mike Minor – Minor will be the opening day starter no matter what happens between now and the end of spring training barring injury.

Lance Lynn – Lynn has looked pretty decent since joining the Rangers in 2019. He is of course recovering from Tommy John Surgery. He could wind up being a great pickup for the Rangers.

Drew Smiley – Another surgery recoveries recovering pitcher, the Rangers will be careful with him to make sure he doesn’t injure himself again.

Edinson Volquez – Former Rangers and now current Ranger, he has looked on pace to get the job when the season starts.

Shelby Miller – The Rangers are high on Miller and hope that he can eat up some innings and do a decent job for the Rangers.

Other starters in contention:

Arial Juardo – Young, pitched some last season, I expect to see him starting sooner rather than later.

Yohander Mendez – Mendez was disciplined last season for some misconduct, let’s hope he learned from it and will do well this season when he gets his shot.

Bullpen:

Jose Leclerc – Leclerc will be the closer unless he proves he cannot handle that role. I believe he will do just fine.

Chris Martin – good, not great with the Rangers in 2018. I expect the same in 2019.

Jesse Chavez – great in 2018, Rangers got some prospects when they traded him and now have him back. Should be a staple in the bullpen in 2019.

Jeffrey Springs – With a good spring, I believe that Springs will make the team out of camp.

Other guys vying for a spot:

C.D. Pelham

Luke Farrell

Brady Feigl

Fielders:

Catchers – Jeff Mathis, Isiah Kiner-Falefa

1st Base – Ronald Guzman

2nd  Base – Rougned Odor

SS – Elvis Andrus

3rd Base – Asdrubal Cabrera

Left Field – Joey Gallo

Center Field – Delino DeShields

Right Field – Nomar Mazara

DH – Shin-Soo Choo

Bench –

Willie Calhoon

Patrick Wisdom

So that is my guess with a few weeks to go on the Rangers starting line-up and bench players the first day of the season. Am I right or wrong? Let me know in the comment section down below or on Facebook or Twitter.
