The Texas Rangers are finding a way to win, despite not being a great team. It’s almost shocking to see them above .500 in late May. No one predicted this. Mike Minor has been brilliant, Lance Lynn has been good. The rest of the staff not so much, but the offense is picking them up as well. Jose LeClerc is looking better, Hunter Pence is having a miraculous comeback year and role players like Danny Santana and Logan Forsythe have been very good.
I believed that the losing streak they went through last week was the beginning of the end, but here we are. 24-23 in late May. Second place in the division and one game out of the second wild card. Now they still have over 100 games to play, and lots will happen between now and then. Even though they are finding a way to win, they are not going to be a wildcard. Jon Daniels will see to that when he trades the veterans for young pitching in late June and July.
For right now, the Rangers have been fun to watch. They are hitting, they are fielding, and they are pitching when Minor or Lynn are on the mound. Right now is not the time to wonder who will be here at the end of the season or who will be coming in. Now is the time to enjoy some winning baseball.
