Highly touted prospect Brock Burke will not be able to pitch in 2020. Burke was someone that Rangers fans really wanted to see at the ballpark this summer. Burke will undergo arthroscopic surgery to repair a tear (partial) in the labrum of his left shoulder this week.
Burke was one of the prospects that the Rangers got in the three team deal with the A’s and Rays that sent Jurickson Profar to the Athletics. While Burke was not going to be on the opening day roster, he did have a chance to join the team at some point. Hopefully this is not a sign of things to come and just a stand alone injury. The Rangers can’t afford to have a lot of prospects go down to arm injuries.
While injury is part of the game, I hope that it is not a big part of the story for 2020.
