We continue with our greatest Ranger bracket with the round of eight. We had the left side of the bracket earlier this week. Let us hit the right side today.
Adrian Beltre vs Rusty Greer
Rusty Greer was a fan favorite, and he still is. Greer played with a reckless abandon that was so fun to watch. Greer played his entire career with the Rangers. He collected 1166 hits, hit 119 home runs, and he had a career batting average of .305. Greer was easily one of the top eight players of all time for Texas. I for one am glad he made it to the round of 8.
Round of Eight Part 1
Adrian Beltre is a fan favorite that played a long and successful career for several teams. Adrian played his last 8 season with the Rangers, amassing 1277 hits, 199 homers, and a batting average of .304 with the Rangers. He hit a ton of milestones while with Texas, and he and Elvis Andrus were a joy to watch playing on and off the field. Both men are fantastic candidates for the final four.
Michael Young vs Juan Gonzalez
Michael Young is one of the greatest Rangers of all time, and I would be disappointed if he wasn’t here. Young played most of his career with the Rangers. Like Elvis, he moved at the end of his career. He was a second baseman, then a shortstop. He followed that becoming a third baseman then a DH. Still with the Rangers today, he is one of the most beloved Rangers of all time. He amassed 2230 hits, 1030 RBI, and had a batting average of .301.
Juan Gonzalez is yet another fan favorite. He was a part of the first playoff run for the Rangers. Gonzalez played 13 seasons with the Rangers, playing in 1400 games, collecting 1595 hits, 372 home runs and had a batting average of .293. Gonzalez was an MVP while with Texas, not once but twice. Definitely one of the all time Rangers greats.
Good luck Rangers fans with the voting. I look forward to seeing who makes it into the final four!
