Brock Holt and Matt Bush have gone on the injury list. The Rangers have called up Brett Martin and Anderson Tejada to replace them. Both are on the ten day IL.
The Rangers have won two games in a row and sit at 3-3 on the season. They will be facing a tough Padres lineup that includes Ferenando Tatis Jr. and Eric Hosmer.
If they can take the series this weekend at Globe Life Field, they will have their first winning record of the season. Still on the injury list is Jonathan Hernandez, Jose Leclerc, Demarcus Evans, Joely Rodriguez, Josh Jung, Willie Calhoun and Khris Davis.
They seem to have trouble keeping players on the field so far in 2021. Hopefully the injury list will shrink and not grow over the next few weeks. Calhoun and Davis should be back soon. Evans and Rodriguez also do not have much longer.
Working around injuries is something that every team has to deal with. When you are a rebuilding team, the hope is to keep everyone healthy to get a good long look at them. The Rangers need to see what they have in some of the prospects they will be playing in 2021. I don’t know if it is conditioning or the fact that baseball has been so weird over the last few season plus.
Either way, the Rangers will trot out a team tonight and I will watch and hopefully enjoy the game. Watching prospects and the future players of the franchise is something I have always enjoyed. We will be covering the minor leagues a lot more on the podcast this season. Let us know which prospects you would like to hear us interview, and we will work to get them on. Tonight we will be seeing some of those in Arlington.
