Today is opening day in Frisco. After a year of no minor league ball in 2020, it is really nice to say that again. The RoughRiders start the year with an intriguing roster for Rangers fans. Pitchers like AJ Alexy, Hans Crouse and Cole Winn highlight that side of the ball. Sherten Apostel, Bubba Thompson and Steele Walker are offensive players to keep an eye on as well.
One of the highlights of the festivities today is Ian Kinsler throwing the ceremonial first pitch. Kinsler played 71 games for the RoughRiders in 2004. He hit .300 in that time. As a Ranger he was very popular and well loved, and overall I believe Rangers fans still like him. It should be a very fun atmosphere tonight at 7:05.
The Rangers are in Minnesota so it seems like a great time to go catch some minor league ball. Right in the back yard of Arlington, Frisco is a beautiful town and Dr. Pepper Ballpark is really nice if you have never been there. I would highly encourage you to head out to Frisco more than once this season and support the team!
The RoughRiders start off with six against the Midland RockHounds, the AA affiliate of the Oakland Athletics. They continue their homestand against the Corpus Christi Hooks of the Astros organization. You have 12 chances to take in some great baseball!
Personally, I am excited for the minor league season. If you have never been you really are missing out. Go take in a great team in a beautiful location in the next 12 days, you won’t regret it. CJ and I will start getting these players on the podcast so you can all get to know them better. Can’t wait!
