The Express opened the season last night in Round Rock with a 6-0 win over Oklahoma City. Wes Benjamin was fantastic in his five innings of work, striking out eight Dodgers. RHP Jake Lemoine (2.0 IP, 2 BB, 2 K), RHP Luis Ortiz (1.0 IP, K) and RHP Demarcus Evans (1.0 IP, H, K) combined to allow only three baserunners over the final four innings.
3B Charles Leblanc and C John Hicks each had home runs, as the offense put up six total runs. It appeared to be a fun atmosphere for the first game of the Red Dirt Rumble. Most said it was just nice to have Express baseball back on the field after a lengthy absence. The game was a great way for baseball to return in Round Rock.
The Express go back to work Tuesday evening at 7:05. Jason Bahr gets the ball for Round Rock while Yefry Ramierez takes the mound for OKC. Bahr was 4-3 with a 3.23 ERA in 12 starts for Frisco in 2019. Ramierez spent some time in the majors with the Orioles and the Pirates in 2019 as well as some time in AAA ball. He allowed a 1.58 average in his last stop at AAA ball in 2019.
Round Rock has a lot of names familiar to Rangers fans. Delino Deshields, Wes Benjamin, Demarcus Evans, Leody Taveras and Anderson Tejada to name a few.
